Mother Duck had new babies.
She took them to swim.
One baby was big and strange.
"Look at that duckling, she looks so strange. He is big and ugly."
The ducks and the other animals on the farm laughed at him and pushed him around.
"Go away. No one likes me."
The ugly duckling met two wild ducks. They laughed at him.
Then a dog came, and he killed the two wild ducks.
"Don't worry. I won't eat you. You are too ugly."
A heavy rain began to fall.
The ugly duckling was so wet and cold.
He ran and ran. Soon, he arrived at a farm.
"Can you catch a mouse? Can you give eggs?"
"No, but I can swim."
Soon it was autumn.
The ugly duckling was swimming in the river.
Some swans flew over the duckling.
"What beautiful birds!
I wish I could be like them."
It became colder and colder.
Finaly winter arrived.
Early one morning, a farmer saw the frozen duckling.
"Oh poor duckling, I will take you home."
Soon the duckling got well.
The children wanted to play with the duckling.
But he was afraid.
"Come and play with us!"
"No, I don't want to play."
One day, the ugly duckling's swings became strong.
He flew high into the sky.
"Wow, I can fly so high!"
"Look! The ugly duckling is not a duck at all.
He is a beautiful swan.
